You Da Bomb! No! I Da Bomb!

Why am I so awesome? Apart from the obvious…

If you know me personally or read this blog often you may be a little “Oh she has ANOTHER bath bomb solution…blah blah blah! Good for her” but I swear I’m positive this one is going to be permanent.

90% sure anyway.

If you’ve never made bath bombs and then tried to package them in durable, attractive, professional, cost effective packaging that still lets you smell the fragrance then you may be unaware of just how gosh darn difficult that is. I have tried just about everything I can think of but have never been completely happy with it. It may look nice but be costly, time consuming or cover up the fragrance. And I was never really satisfied with leaving them unwrapped as the only option, fearing what humidity and air conditioning will do to them.

But I’m really happy with this packaging solution. Introducing:

I know right! Simple, yet brilliant.

It still needs a few more tweaks to get it perfect but I’m really happy with it.

The bombs are protected from the elements while still allowing the fragrance to come through and all product descriptions, logo and ingredients are easy to see.

So from this week I’ll be offering two different types of bath bombs; wrapped and unwrapped. This will apply for wholesale orders too and will enable people to decide how they would like their purchases. At the moment I’m visualising the wrapped bath bombs would be perfect for gifts, web orders and most retail outlets while the unwrapped bombs will probably fair better at markets as most customers are buying them for themselves and are happy to forgo a bit of wrapping.

Display Ideas For Bath Bombs

This is the vase my wonderful wholesale accounts are receiving as a gift when they purchase over a certain amount. It holds 14 giant bath bombs easily and looks divine.

I want one for myself but just how many vases does one person need? I think I’ve hit that limit already.

Procrastinating

I should be working on the media packs that are needed for Monday morning but instead I’m writing a little blog post.

Two new soaps are ready to go into the shop. They are Adore and Devour (oatmeal milk and honey scented) and Buff Country (cucumber and melon salt bar).

mmmmm they smell so yummy.

Also going in the wholesale website (ah I bet you didn’t know I had one of them did you. It’s invitation only and super secret) is a bulk batch of Solid Body Bars. Each little one is one use only and they are designed for B & Bs (as mini gifts for the customers) and/or for spas that offer massages.

I do love them, stacked on top of each other like that.

Now, back to making media packs and writing on and on about me.

The Latest Empire of Delight Entrepreneur

There is a buzz in the house these last few days. Little J has opened up her own Etsy shop selling her handmade bookmarks.

While counting her views and hearts is exciting enough for an 8 year old she has also made a sale on her very first night. This resulted in a lot of early morning, bleary eyed jumping around and she wasted no time in getting her first order ready to post.

It takes her a whole week of chores to make the same money she made in 1/2 an hour yesterday (not to mention that making the bookmarks are actually an earnable chore).

But Wait There’s More

Her grandmother was shopping for discount Christmas cards and was boasting about Little J to a gift and card store. The owner was impressed and asked if Little J would bring some bookmarks in and she’ll sell them in the store. That’s right, she’s been in business less than one week and already has a wholesale account.

I’ve already started looking for a bigger house, it won’t be long and she can buy us a more expensive home.

Blogtoberfest Day 13 - The Day I Made A Catalogue

Little J is still sick. Poor thing, this flu has really knocked her around. She's spending the night at her grandparents house due to the fact they have Foxtel, ice-cream and are more likely to wait on her hand and foot.

The subject of wholesale catalogues has consumed me today. I'm compiling my own and today finished the cover page:

Bright, colourful and clean. Just how I like it. It takes the colours and geometric lines from my banner and turns them fluid and organic. I'd been toying around with the idea of pushing the brand to include dots and swirls and this image does the trick. It's brilliant isn't it! I wish I could claim ownership of the swirls and circles but it was done by someone else far more talented than me. I just came up with the colours and text.

What I love about the cosmetic and body products industry is the ability to be flexible and experiment. If I so desire I can do a whole collection of black and white ornate packaging, or a simple pastel themed collection, or something cute, quirky or funny. The only limit is my imagination and I love that I don't have to find just one style and image and stick to it.

I'm looking at doing some markets down south over the Christmas period. I like the idea of getting out of the city, there are so many markets here it'll be nice to go to towns where they are a novelty.

It's also a great excuse to visit the in-laws. They'd love to see more of the girls...not me or Big B, we're just the custodians.

I really miss my camera. Little C broke it and I need to get it fixed…and if it can’t be fixed I’ll just have to buy a new one. Cause life is no fun with pictures.

Nor is a blog either so here’s one for fun.

In other news I’ve added a Stockists page to my website. At the moment it only has two listings but so what…things are getting exciting.

I’ve got about two and a half weeks till my next market and I’d like to have quite a few things made by then.

In Limbo

Uni assignments have dragged me away from soap making. And it’s dull and boring uni work too. I made this over the weekend:

He’s a jigsaw dino for a group animation I have to do. He’s not rigged up yet but by the end of the week I’ll have him walking, chewing imaginary grass and looking around. He’s pretty, I like him.

There’s plenty more I could be doing, business wise I have a tonne of work to do.
