Part of our holiday was a bit disturbing. While resting up at the in-laws we got a phone call from mum to say our beloved cat was in trouble and it was being rushed to the vets. This news was greeted by rounds of “great” and “I hate cats” followed by a very alarming story about a cat and dog showdown that didn’t go the cats way. We then endured half an hour of “you guys are so old” comments by Big Bs younger siblings. That’s not too upsetting…after all they’ll get old and wrinkly one day too. But I was once again left wondering if my mother in law has a deep family secret involving milk men or stories of babies abandoned on church steps around the time Big B was born.
Such reflections about growing old, plus my newly organised office…
…last night I sorted all of this out…
…have put me in the mood for a mini personal project. I’m 40 in a few years time and while I’ll probably go out on a whimper (apparently my party gene had a used by date) I’ve decided to whimper out with style.
So I’ve come up with 40 things to do before I’m 40. None of these goals are particularly taxing but they are personal projects, which are the things that mostly take a back seat these days.
I’ve calculated I need to do about 15 a year to reach my goal, so I’d better get on with it.
