Blogtoberfest Day 12 - The Day With A Sick Child and M&Ms

Poor Little J is still sick. So she was shuffled off to the doctor who informed us she has...a cold. Ok, thanks for that, I figured that myself but I guess the conformation is nice.

We got a prescription for antibiotics if she doesn't improve over the next day or two. Lets hope she does because she absolutely refuses to take any medication which led to the doctor informing her that orally is not the only way a tablet can be taken.

Poor thing, the look on her face when she realised what he meant was priceless.

In other news I've discovered that my kids think they like M&Ms but don't really. They're seen as a snack but mostly are seen as objects to throw around the room.

Lesson learnt.

Again? Really? You’re Kidding Right?

It’s vegemite this time. She’s getting some kind of food fetish. I don’t know what's up with her.

Now before you all start thinking I’m neglecting my kids and just letting them run wild in the house, Little C was supposed to be in bed. Asleep. She in fact got up, rifled through the the cupboards, got the vegemite open somehow and sat on the lounge carpet painting herself with it.

The lower half of her legs looks as bad as her arms. It really was funny.

Winter Warmer

In between the brief moments of sunshine today we’ve had pouring rain. And it’s not cool! I don’t like the rain, not anymore. I did before I had kids, when rain was romantic and I could feel like a totally hardcore athlete when I went running in the rain. Cause that's what people without kids do, they exercise regularly and know the meaning of romance. Now when it rains I’m just annoyed because it makes it harder to do the washing and the kids are under foot more, and bored, and hungry more because they can’t go outside and play. There’s a reason we bought a house with a big yard…it was so the kids could bugger off outside and give me five minutes of peace.

But there is something nice about winter. Casseroles. I bought a slow cooker and have been making casseroles quite regularly. What's great about a slow cooker is I can make dinner when I feel like it, around lunch time I can casually cut up the vegies, brown the meat and toss it all together. Then when it’s cooked I just put it on warm until dinner time.

How easy it that! And if I get Little J to help too it means even less work for me and the added bonus of family bonding time.

I’ve decided Little J is having one for her 8th birthday this year whether she wants one or not.
